Authentic southwestern eats. The only thing missing? Vibrant art that tells the story of our city’s rich history.

It takes a village

Late 2023, the Alamosa Chamber announced a 100 year mural project to commemorate the rich history, culture and landmarks of Alamosa and the greater San Luis Valley. Featuring 10 downtown murals – one for each decade of Alamosa – this proposed project aimed to beautify the city, clean up the streets, and ultimately help Alamosa become a state-recognized creative arts district. 

Naturally, being a long standing local business and community members, we jumped at the opportunity to get involved. Of course, no ordinary mural would suffice for this project. It had to be special. Unique. One-of-a-kind. Something celebratory yet interactive.

The final result? A 7-panel mural with different adventure types. Coined the “Alamosa Adventurer” mural by the Alamosa Citizen, this big-picture style mural comes packed with selfie-stations for people to stop, get out of their cars, and interact with the local culture and history. Modern yet locally appropriate, the final mural is inspired by the last decade of the world’s connection to the internet and highlights what makes Alamosa unique in today’s age. Oh, and the mural was designed, painted, and christened 100% by our local Alamosa team–pretty cool.

Block party extravaganza

It’s not often you get to see a mural being painted, to see an artist’s work in progress. Yet that’s exactly what we did–on purpose. Last week, we invited the community to come out and watch our team put the finishing touches on the mural.The turnout was phenomenal, and the energy was infectious. We had live music, giveaways and so many great conversations with folks who came out to see the new art.

But our block party wasn’t just a celebration. It was a community gathering that reminded us why we love Alamosa so much. Seeing everyone come together to celebrate art, history, and community was truly heartwarming. The smiles, laughter, and, of course, the countless selfies taken in front of our mural made all the hard work worthwhile!
